My career, in the Hospitality Industry, began in high school while working at the Biloxi Hilton
in Biloxi, MS. After graduating from Southern Miss, I moved to Las Vegas, where I worked at Circus Circus Hotel &
Casino. In the early stages of my career, I also had the good fortune of working as Assistant Manager at Beverly
Pavilion Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, Front Office Manager at the Le Parc Hotel in Los Angeles, CA, Cruise Director for the
Europa Star Cruise Line and Executive Director of Gulf Hills Resort and Country Club in Ocean Springs, MS. Since 1995,
I have been employed with Wyndham Worldwide, Inc. Currently, I am Director of Regional Marketing over a nine state region.
During my tenure with Wyndham Worldwide, I have worked in the areas of: Field Marketing, Regional Marketing, and Quality Assurance.
In 2009, I completed my M.B.A. - Hospitality & Tourism from the
University of Guelph. The world-renowned research university is located outside of Toronto, Ontario - Canada. In
October, of that year, I presented my thesis during the TTRA (Travel and Tourism Research Association) Conference
to be held in Guelph. Also, earlier in the year, I received an Ambassador Award from Travel South USA and
in 2008, I received an Outstanding Service Award from the University of Arkansas.
When it comes to my career, I am
best known for my personally created and conducted Hospitality Target Marketing seminars which I have presented at Wyndham Hotel Group brand conferences, as well as Studio Inns, the University of Arkansas,
the University of Southern Mississippi and the Fayettville, 2010 AR Visitor's Bureau Hospitality Summit. My ability
to speak Gujarati, the language of the Gujarat state of India, often surprises people.
Industry organizations of
which I belong are: STS - Southeast Tourism Society, TTRA - Travel & Tourism Research Association,
HSMAI - Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International and I serve on the Advisory Board of the
University of Arkansas' Hospitality & Restaurant Program.
This
fall, I will join the Department of Casino, Hospitality, Tourism Management, College of Business, at the University of Southern
Mississippi as an adjunct faculty member and will begin teaching the TM 368 - Hotel Operations Management course, next
spring.
