80/20 Vision

80 percent of a hotel's business comes from 20 percent of the customers. Determine your repeat customers, and treat them well. For example, if a customer stays at your property a few nights every week or two, be prepared to welcome that traveler in a special way. Have a beverage and a snack ready in their room, give them a coupon/voucher for a free appetizer at a local restaurant or offer them an upgrade.

Take a Chance!
Need an easy, inexpensive way to get a response from a hard-to-reach prospect?
Send them a lottery ticket with a short note that reads, "We are giving you a chance with the Lottery...How about giving us a chance?"

Plant your Seeds...Grow your Business

Buy a small flower pot...put some soil in a baggie and buy a packet of seeds.
Put all the items together in the pot and take it to a client with a note saying...
"Plant your seeds at Days Inn and grow your business with us!"

We admit it...We dropped the ball!

In the event that your property "drops the ball" with that special group or client, get a baseball and have the entire staff sign the ball with their name and title.

Then take or send the baseball along with a note stating that "We dropped the Ball" and ask for another chance.

To the Top!

Cross reference your top accounts list with the Top 50 employers in your area.

Designate the employers who are on the Top 50 list but NOT on YOUR current account list as your Prospecting Hit List.

Share the listing with your entire staff and recruit their assitance in "going after" those accounts.

Need help getting that GREAT contact/prospect to repond to you?

1. How about include a baby shoe with your note or letter stating "Well now, I have one foot in the door!" or maybe "Give us a chance...we'll put our best foot forward!"

2. Another idea is to send a shoestring with your correspondence. Include a note that... in a "tightening" economy where everyone is expected to operate on a "shoestring"...for quality, comfort and value, we've got it all "laced up!"

You can also invite them to the hotel for a FREE shoeshine...during your guest appreciation shoe-shine day.

Take a Ride
Here is an unique approach to "drive throughs."   Offer an incentive to your employees and let them earn while they drive!
Implement a contest for the most number of out of town company names your employees can spot in your local restaurant,
competitors parking lots, on the Interstates/highways, etc. At the end of each month, offer a considerable prize ($100.00)
for the person who turned in the most "leads" with a $25.00 award for second and third place. make sure that they know a
"lead" must consist of the company name, and the state of their licence plate. Encourage them to write down the phone
number as displayed on the vehicle.

Tired Techs

Many hospitals in rural areas have medical vehicles equipped with testing equipment that visit on a regular basis.  This is because many of the medical centers do not have this high priced equipment.

These technicians need rooms and they love loyalty programs.
